Connect the moon to the tide table
Average tidal ranges are larger around new and full moons, with more moderate neap tides near the quarter moons. “Spring tide” describes this cycle, not the spring season.
Return to the actual place and date
Use the phase as a prompt to open the spot’s tide events. Read the local high and low times and the heights that are actually supplied. Do not copy another coast’s timing from a lunar calendar or infer a current speed from the moon icon.
Keep a lunar label separate from a result
An explanation of tidal range is not evidence that a certain phase guarantees a better catch. Record the fishing hours, method and conditions before comparing results, and include trips without a catch.
Ask a question your records can address
Choose one familiar spot and write down the phase and tide events you checked for each visit. Note changes in the plan and what you observed. Look for questions to revisit rather than declaring a rule from one memorable evening.
Try it on your next trip
- Use moon phase as context, then read the local tide table.
- Do not infer current speed or a bite time from a moon symbol.
- Keep consistent trip notes in your FishMeteo fishing journal.
